Latimer is playing the kind of Audrey in the school's rendition of the rock musical "Little Betray of Horrors," which opens March 1. During rehearsal on Monday, Latimer tried on abundant sleepwear for the scene in which she's eaten.
When asked what makes "Little Shop of Horrors" withstand b resist out from other musicals the high school has produced, Latimer definitively responded, "The put. It's funny watching people get eaten."
The large puppet plant, Audrey II, which the area department rented for the occasion is played by two students: Evan Yee - who is arranged the plant and controls its actions - and Alex Karpinski - who spends the show offstage, serving as the vegetable's voice.
"This has been my dream role since I got into musical theatre," Karpinski said on Monday. He auditioned specifically for the part.
Performing the ado "Feed Me," Karpinski said, is both one of his favorite parts of the show, and one of the most challenging.
While Karpinski is offstage singing the speedy-tempo lyrics, Yee is hastily contorting himself inside the Audrey II dupe in order to make its mouth move as quickly as Karpinski's.
