Every year the Concealment Actors Guild gets together and recognizes the hell out of those members whose profession in the past year in film or television has been truly exceptional. It’s always a fascinating paddling pool, namely because it gives an insight into what other actors value in each other – and it’s not always the same as the Advantageous Globes (where honorees are selected by members of the Hollywood Foreign Hurry) or the Oscars (where the Academy does the deciding.) It’s this professional answer from other practitioners of the craft that makes this event so watchable – the restlessness seems real, the atmosphere relaxed. The SAG awards are like a vestige of Old Hollywood, in a way; an choice club where we’re held just at a distance, not with malice, but because we lack the qualifications to be coextensive with up.
