CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Dana (Valorous) Sobota, the women's designer for Dredgers Union in downtown Cleveland, is a original, do-it-yourself kind of bride. Amy Puchowicz, owner of Amy's Shoes in Rocky River and Woodmere, is a affair-savvy delegator. Whatever your wedding-planning persona, you can pick up a few skilful tips from these style experts.
Bride : Dana (Hardy) Sobota, 28
Train : Paul Sobota, 29
Wedding date : Sept. 4, 2011
Planning look: Do-it-yourself
The disadvantage of being a clothing designer is that it's tough to fit yourself. So Sobota focused her DIY vigour on the rest of her wedding.
"Our ideas were far and beyond our budget," she laughs. So they did most of it themselves (with the help of friends and relations) -- in only six months.
The ceremony and reception were at the couple's Cleveland gallery, called Front Stay Gallery. A friend designed the invitations, one painted a mural, another served as the officiant and yet another acted as disc jockey. Sobota's mom decorated the tables, her cousins and aunts baked all the desserts, and a pal assembled the nuptial and bridesmaids' bouquets.
