The repute of Yass’ barefoot bowls competition continues to waken with a growing number of teams on a waiting list due to the returfing of a greensward.
Currently 14 teams participate in the Tuesday evening barefoot bowls striving which will continue until the end of the daylight saving period.
Competition organiser, Ted Maher, has been at the brain of barefoot bowls for some time in Yass and has seen firsthand how acclaimed it has become.
“We have a lawn being fixed up so it means we can only have 14 teams playing,” he said.
“But once the sward is done, we can have 28 teams and hardly anyone will be left out.”
Teams consist of three players with the concept of rotating and letting others have a go on a consistent basis.
The competition is primarily about gratification and involvement but according to Ted it is also about attracting people to the Yass Bowling Cabaret.
“We want to attract more members, especially those from the younger community.
