Pantone's 'tangerine tango' not your mother's burnt orange

FARGO - When Christy (Houmann) Lee told people that her strongest wedding color would be orange, their responses were less than enthusiastic.

Perhaps concerned that her color stratagem would be more highway sign than high fashion, some friends and family members looked unpredictable.

“I don’t think anyone thought I could make it glamorous,” says Lee. “I reflect on they thought it would be a little juvenile.”

But the Westhope, N.D., resident had a vision. She imagined a new, sunny, cheerful hue that would enhance her June 18 wedding to gazabo teacher Anthony Lee.

“Not like a basketball color,” she says. “I wanted to go with aglow, summery colors.”

So when guests wound up raving about the décor of her wedding and soir, she couldn’t help but feel pleased.

The floral arrangements were peppered with sonorous orange-and-red-tipped roses. The cake boasted orange accents. And the bridesmaids wore strapless, knee-stretch gowns with pleated bodices in orange.
