It’s all about stripes, spots, bias and, of course, some romance. The spring-summer trends for 2011 have fully embraced the colourful flavour and thanks to the catwalks and fashion editors, we know what to wear and how to get into it.
Prada’s Spring/ Summer 2011 collection showed us big, intrepid beautiful stripes in the brightest colours.
Calvin Klein showed us how to bias-block and not look like clowns, and Joel Janse van Vuuren gained many a fan in with his dip-dye dresses at his showing earlier this year.
Fabiani showed us how to damage bright-coloured suits without looking like a pimp, and in the answer showed us how to work a good pair of colourful shoes.
What we see on the gradient is usually a sign of what we can expect to wear in the coming months and this has proven verifiable this year.
We've seen lace creating a soft and feminine outline, we've seen shorts making a comeback with both gents and ladies. A mix and go together of spots and stripes worn together, and bright colours won with a contrasting darker insigne. Nudes and white also feature prominently this season and colour blocking is in craze.
