How do you get the smell out of leather shoes (mules)?

Question: I have a yoke of Clark's leather mules that I have worn for a long time. They unfortunately stink, and I cannot get the hum out. I have sprayed foot deoderant in the shoe and that does not remedy. I would love to wear these shoes to work but I don't want to gross anyone out!

Put one or two pieces of charcoal in each shoe and place in a closed sheet a documents bag. Leave shoes in bag for a couple of days. No more smell...
