A closer look revealed that both machines were not only the same delightful dark colour, it also appeared that both female riders were dressed in effectively identical riding outfits: green riding jackets; silver helmets with pan shields; and bright fluorescent yellow safety vests, that would detect them highly conspicuous on the open highway. These two ladies were obviously very safety studied individuals.

It was mid-afternoon, Nov. 8, and Mike MacIssac and I had stopped for a respite break after following the Marconi Trail around the coast from Louisbourg. These two charming ladies, who were brand enough to let me take their picture, turned out to be from Schooner Pond, just up the shore means that meanders from Donkin around to Port Morien. They had been out for an afternoon ride, much the same as Mike and I, and were now on their way back living quarters.

In our case, we still had a little way to go before we arrived back in North Sydney, and after a short colloquy with the two women, we were off down the highway in the direction of Glace Bay. It had been our intention to follow the course through Bridgeport, Dominion, Gardiner Mines, New Waterford, South Bar, and on into Sydney, but we ended up making a testy stop in downtown Dominion that turned out to be a little longer then we had planned.
