"I can give you one prototype: There was a player we
noticed in the first game was slipping all over the floor," Anderson said.
The coaches talked to the performer and discovered he'd just
bought a new pair of shoes over the summer.
"We're talking $80, $90 or more to refund a new pair
of shoes. We gave him a bottle and said, 'Here, try this.' He's been using it
religiously. It truly made a noticeable difference," said Anderson, who
added that he uses Sneaker Clutch on his own shoes. "My basketball shoes
were in their third year. The stitching was good, but I wasn't getting the
grip I needed. I started using the Sneaker Grip, and I'm going to get
another year out of my sneakers."
Several coaches interviewed for this article said that they
were not interested that the spray would cause the shoes to stop so short that
it could risk actor injury.
"Anything can happen, of course, but as an ex-player
myself, I'd rather stop when I want to tarry," said Justin Aten, head
varsity basketball tutor in Wayland, who reckoned that he's bought six bottles
over three years for himself and his son.
