The lawyer volleys started in December 2010, after Deschanel’s envoy negotiated a verbal contract for her client to endorse Madden’s shoes. Deschanel never got paid, and when footwear brand Candies (which works with Steve Madden) released a shoe called the Zooey, she tacked a publicity contravention claim onto her breach of contract lawsuit.

Madden’s lawyers evidently tried to get a judge to dismiss the case, but the judge refused: The court wanted a jury to shape if Madden’s product designers had the deal with Deschanel on their minds when they put the Zooey shoe on the demand.

So why would Deschanel ask for the case to be dropped? Our guess is she got a settlement, but her neither she nor Madden is saying anything about the be important.
