The but and devotion that Dolly Felix gave as a coach and teacher at John F. Kennedy Intoxicated School will be recognized on Saturday, when the Richmond campus will officially pay homage her by renaming its gymnasium.
Eagle supporters are encouraged to wear red and white and sink in fare to the gymnasium at JFK, 4300 Cutting Blvd., at 1 p.m. Saturday for the proceedings.
Following a friends and relations social time is a 1:30 p.m. ceremony in honor of Felix, whose craft in Richmond schools lasted more than 50 years and encompassed almost the continuous history of JFK until her death on June 25 at age 79 after a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
"We craving to see all of you at the dedication in honor of Dolly," wrote Nicholas Zoffel of the Eagle Bottom in announcing the ceremony. "We would love to pack the gym."
Felix, herself a Richmond Allying High School graduate, began her career at Harry Ells Dear in 1956 and was part of the first faculty at Kennedy when it opened in 1967.
